The Mediterranean
Climate of the Central Coast makes San Luis Obispo one of
the most popular tourist spots on the Central Coast.
Hearst
Castle is our most visited State Park on the
Central Coast. There are four tours available during the summer
months at Hearst Castle.
If you are a shopper
downtown San Luis Obispo, the Embarcadero in Morro Bay, and
Cambria are musts. Also if you are an antique hunter try Cayucos
and Templeton.
For festive occasions
all our Central Coast's towns have festivals for tourists. The
big events of the Central Coast include wine festivals, parades,
fourth of July fireworks, and Mexican holidays. The Mozart Festival
is one such summer event.
The Mid-State
Fair in Paso Robles has many of the best know popular and
country western performers every year. In addition, many performers
may be listened may be enjoyed with no additional fee once you
are inside the fair grounds.
Wine
tasting is available
at the many wineries from the Paso Robles area to the South
San Luis Obispo County. Our county has some of the finest prize
winning wines.
For those interested
in the history of the Central Coast, San Luis Obispo
has a museum on the Mission Plaza in the downtown. Another museum
well worth your time is the Pioneer Museum is in Paso Robles.
Our area has many
art and performing arts events.
For the events watch the events page and the local chambers
of commerce. Many of the local towns have art associations and
the local towns have many business galleries.

The
Central Coast Missions include
a mission in San Luis Obispo and San Miguel. San Miguel is celebrating
its bicentennial on September 20 and 21, 1997. San Miguel is north
of Paso Robles on highway 101.
There are many parks
and beaches on the Central Coast. Pismo Beach is the most
visited for wandering through the shops, surfing, and sun bathing.
Other beaches are Graver Beach, Avila Beach, Morro Bay, Cayucos,
and Cambria.
State Parks
for campers are in Pismo Beach, Montana de Oro, Morro Bay, and

You should call well in advance particularly in the summer months.
For the out-of-doors
enthusiasts hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing are
among the many sports available.
Montana de Oro State
Park has several trails for hiking. The San Luis Obispo County
Trail Guide by the Santa Lucia Chapter of the Sierra Club
includes several hikes within the county.
Kayaking and canoeing
are popular in the Morro Bay estuary. The Natural History Museum
in Morro Bay has a list of many docent led hikes throughout
the county.
Two colleges
are in the area. Cuesta College is a community college. California
Polytechnic State University educates many engineers, architects,
and computer scientists. It also is strong in business, agriculture,
the sciences, and graphic arts.
