California's Highway 1 is famous all over the World for its views of the Pacific Ocean.

Whether you are driving north or south on 101, take the exit in San Luis Obispo that is for "Highway 1 north" (also known as Santa Rosa Street). Travel north to Morro Bay, Cambria, and San Simeon. A few miles beyond San Simeon the highway will rise high up on the cliffs. You are now on the World Famous Highway 1.

To enjoy the drive to Big Sur to its fullest, drive up in the morning and return in the afternoon to San Luis Obispo County. Enjoy!
